Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Mi Budget handles information when you use the app.
1. Overview
Mi Budget is an offline-first personal finance app. Most information you enter, such as budgets, transactions, debts, grocery lists, templates, and recurring items, is stored locally on your device.
Mi Budget does not require you to create an account and does not require you to connect a bank account.
Mi Budget also uses third-party services for advertising and billing. Those services may process device and usage data as described below.
2. Information processed by Mi Budget
A. Data you enter in the app
- Budgets, subcategories, and transaction records
- Debt records, due dates, and payment history
- Recurring entries, templates, bank accounts, grocery lists, and grocery items
- Daily check-ins, in-app notifications, settings, and preferences
This data is stored locally on your device unless you choose to create a backup or export file.
B. Backup and export files you choose to create
If you use backup or CSV export features, Mi Budget writes files to the location you choose through Android's document picker. You control where those files are saved and who can access them.
C. Budget-share files you choose to create or import
Mi Budget can export a budget as a Mi Budget file that another user can import into Mi Budget. If you choose to set a passcode while sharing, the exported budget file is encrypted with that passcode before it is written and shared. Mi Budget can also read and import a Mi Budget budget file that you choose to open from your device or another app.
You are responsible for deciding who you send a shared budget file to, whether to protect it with a passcode, and how you store or transmit that file after export.
D. Device and usage data processed by third parties
Mi Budget uses third-party SDKs and services that may process information such as:
- App interactions related to ads and consent
- Advertising identifiers, app instance identifiers, and similar device or install identifiers
- Approximate location inferred from IP address for ads and measurement
- Purchase state related to the optional Google Play ad-free purchase
3. Why this information is used
- To provide budgeting, reminders, streaks, debt tracking, and other app features
- To create, protect, read, and import budget files and backup files that you choose to handle
- To support the app with ads and measure ad performance
- To handle consent and advertising-related functionality
- To verify and restore the optional one-time ad-free purchase through Google Play
4. Third-party services used in Mi Budget
- Google Mobile Ads (AdMob)
- Google User Messaging Platform (UMP)
- Google Play Billing
These providers may process information under their own privacy notices and terms.
5. Ads and consent
Mi Budget displays ads unless you remove them through the one-time Google Play purchase or activate a temporary ad cooldown that the app currently offers. Where required, Mi Budget presents a consent flow and provides access to privacy options inside the app when those options are required by Google.
6. Billing and purchases
If you choose to buy the ad-free upgrade, payment processing is handled by Google Play. Mi Budget does not receive your full payment card number or your Google Play credentials.
7. Notifications and device features
Mi Budget may send local reminders and insight notifications if you enable notifications. If you enable app lock, Mi Budget uses Android's biometric or device credential prompt; the app does not receive or store your raw biometric data.
8. Third-party links and external content
Mi Budget can open third-party destinations such as YouTube, Google Play, your phone app, your email app, and web links when you choose to use those actions. Their handling of information is governed by their own privacy practices.
9. Data retention and your choices
- Locally stored budgeting data remains on your device until you delete it, erase app data, or uninstall the app.
- You can create backups, exports, and budget-share files, and you are responsible for securing those files.
- If you export a passcode-protected budget file, Mi Budget does not recover or retain the passcode for you.
- You can erase app data from inside the app or by clearing app storage on your device.
- You can manage notifications in device settings and ad privacy choices through the app when available.
10. Children's privacy
Mi Budget is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum age required by local law, and is not intended as a children's app.
11. Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The current version will always show the latest revision date at the top of this page.
